It had been a while since my last backcountry touring mission out of Whistler Blackcomb. After injuring my wrist in February, this was my first time heading back out into the alpine.
Our objective for the day was the North Face of Phalanx Mountain. There had not been much recent snowfall in the corridor, so our primary strategy was to locate wind-sheltered areas on north-facing terrain. The conditions strategy was successful, as we found excellent, dry powder preserved on the north-east aspects.
