It has been a while to ski on a sunny day. We wanted to ski in alpine, but we decided to stay within treeline because of avalanche danger. We rode east side of Mount Chief Pascal.

We started our hike by 7:50, and it was already bright. I can see Spring is on the way.
No clouds in the sky, the weather was totally different from the day before. I could see surface hoar already building up on east face.

We hiked to 1925m and snow was in excellent condition for riding. There was more snow on Rohr ridge, but the snow in this area was lighter. It is just 4km away, but snow condition is significantly different.

We reached to the start of our first run by 10:30.

Snow looked better on the north face, but we decided to ride to south because of the sun light. Light is the most important part of photography, and I cannot miss it.
I was so glad that snow did not get warmed up yet. Starting early gave us good snow!!

Our tracks looked so good. We cut the first lap short and hiked up for another photo opportunity, then rode a good run until we hit dense trees. We found 2 down tracks on Cheque’s in the mail on Vantage ridge and they looked tasty…

We started our final climb for the third lap at 13:00. We gained to 1900m on east ridge of Chief Pascal to ride the south face.

I was a bit worried about solar effect on south face. I have never been on the south side, so we decided to explore.
Snow was definitely warmed up and heavy. There was sun crust on direct south facing slopes. As I dropped in, I soon regretted my decision… We were walking on the north side and snow was really good. It would have been so much better, but I was happy to see a new area.
