2021 starts deep

We came back to 10cm new snow after touring.

On today’s post, I cannot tell you where I went… It is just north of Pemberton. It was cloudy when we started walking at 10:00 after snowmobiling for 30+ mins. New snow from last couple days accumulated to 60cm with wind moving snow from alpine. We rode between 1700 and 1500 and avoided any open and steep slopes.

We rode the same slope three times, of course they were all fresh tracks each time! Because we stayed in trees we did not see any sign of avalanches, so we gradually increased the angle of slopes.

mellow line for our first run
it was deep!

After our first run, we were a littler more confident that we can ride a bit more steeper slope. Then followed the up-track to the same start point, and headed our nose straight down the fall line.

It was already 14:30 after our second run. Day time is still short around new years day. We all looked each other, however, then got ready for another run. We hiked up 2/3 the way, and dropped in to the lower and steeper section of the face.

Third run looks so good in photos, right? These are actually from our second. After watching them riding deep snow, I couldn’t resist myself skiing longer and to the bottom.

What a day! I can tell this was the bast day of this season so far.

If I remember correct, the best days always in dark…
