It was my first time both going to Gin Peak and hiking from Olymic park. We were going to start at 9:00, which is opening time for Olympic park. You have to wait till 9:00 if you park inside Olympic park. The other option is to park at Alexander falls and walk in to the park to reach the trailhead.

The trail is inside steep forest. Many people coming back on the same trail, so the trail is icy and smooth. It was really slippery at some steep section.
We arrived at Hanging lake around 12:15. This is where the trail ends and people spread to their destinations. Elevation at this point is 1400m.

We hiked up toward south side of Hanging lake, and then turned east at ridge top to reach Gin peak. It was 12:27.

Weather was so good. The sun light was strong, but it stayed cool in north faces and snow was good there.
We got to Gin Peak(1780m) at 13:15, and skied the north face. It was a little wind affected at the top section, but lower half was in great condition and more snow.

Coming down from the peak was steep, and got this awesome shot.
Then we skied to skier’s left, so it is easier to come back up again.

It was 13:45 when we finished first run. We wanted to ride another line from the peak, but decided to go down because the parking closes at 16:30.
We started skiing down by 14:05. We did not follow the up track. I thought it would be more fun to explore the area for more pow turns.

The terrain going down the park was really complex. There were many flat sections and narrow gullies. We almost went into a creek. You better have a map/GPS to explore the area.
After some walking and skiing, we came back to the park at 15:15. Then Back to parking by 15:23.
We got an hour until the gate closes, so went to Day lodge and enjoyed a mocha and cookies.
