Matier-Vantage Col January 8th

A quick day out on a cloudy day.

There are not many sunny days in January, but we can still have fun when it is cloudy. We started off from Cerise creek trail head to ski around Matier-Vantage col. It is about 6km walk and 600m elevation gain to the col. This might not be the best choice for a cloudy day because there are not many trees where you can ski.

We passed the fork to Keith’s hut at 12:00 and continued to the col.

It was mostly easy walk, but there were a few traps. We could easily avoid them if it was sunny.

Hard to see the terrain with this light

We got to the col by 13:30. Skiing down from the col is mellow, but there are some steep sections if you go to skier’s right.
