Joffre and Matier peaks are my favourite peaks in Cayoosh area. I have been skiing the area, and seen beautiful sunrise and sunset. However, I never took a time for taking good photos of the area, so this was the trip I did just for taking photos! No skiing!

Here is my set-up. I got a 70L backpack filled with camera gears and camping gears. Many stuffs did not fit inside!

It took me 3 hours to get to Matier Vantage col, where I had my camp at. April is always the best time of year for long ski touring or solo touring.

This is my camp. Perfect spot for a quick photo mission. It is only 6km away from the trailhead and 630m vertical gain.
I used a summer tent on this trip, because it is super light. I made snow walls around my tent, so that wind do not come inside tent.

I focused on taking photos at sunrise for this location. What I wanted to picture was Matier peak lit with sunrise.
Of course, however, I took some photos at night.

Such a gorgeous spot for camping, it was so quiet. What I only heard was wind,,, and avalanche sound.
Then, I went to sleep. I was so excited to see the morning light.

Next day, this was what I woke up to… Mother nature did not smile for me…
Well, I can not blame anyone for this. I quickly packed up the camp and headed back.

In mountains, mother nature is always the first. I was still a good trip. I got to come back!
