Ottoman in Cayoosh, Feb 19th

Entrance to Ottoman

February 19th, I went to Ottoman on Burnt ridge.

The trail starts from KM16 parking at in Cayoosh Pass. this number is referred to a map by John Baldwin “Duffey Lake”. I highly recommend to get one if you want to enjoy backcountry in Cayoosh Pass.

Starting elevation is 1250m. Ottoman starts from Burnt ridge at 1800m and runs down to 1400m elevation. This north facing slope is steep and a bit narrow at top, and opens up 1/3 the way down. the bottom part is a boulder field, so it needs a good amount of snow fall to get filled in.

We came to the bottom of Ottoman by 11:20, then slowly gained our way to the top. we came to the entrance by 15:30, and started skiing by 16:00.

Snow was good at the top half, but heavy at the bottom.

FSR comes close to the run, so going back to parking is easy. It is a good option for a quick lap at Cayoosh Pass.

As we came back to the parking at 17:00, other party gave us beers! Ending a pow day with cold beers is priceless.
